Who's behind all this?

Hi, I’m Rob, Founder and Lead Strategist at Stodl.

I have 12 years’ of experience in the IT sector working working both internally and outsourced, so can appreciate the frustrations that IT can cause from all angles.

Experience.

I started my career as an IT Assistant, and worked my way through the ranks of support engineer, IT manager, IT consultant, project manager, technical architect, technical account manager, vendor manager, product and services specialist, to eventually become commercial director at an IT managed service provider. I’ve seen a lot!

I’ve successfully helped businesses from a variety of industries plan for and achieve their IT goals such as; cloud migrations, IT roadmaps, cyber security improvements and accreditations, office relocations, infrastructure upgrades, integration projects, and much more.

In or Out?

Having worked on both sides of IT (internal and external) I’ve seen the struggles that come with each. From not having the time, skills, or resources to achieve what the business requires when you have an internal person/team, to not getting the flexibility or level of focus and attention you need with an outsourced IT provider.

What I've found.

One of the main things I’ve realised over the years is that it’s not easy to find the right people to support your business and help you achieve your goals. My experience means I have a unique insight into what to look out for, good and bad. I can help you plan your IT (technical, people, and financially) to make sure you don’t fall into any nasty and unnecessary traps, and ensure it’s aligned with your business needs.

I’ve also realised that simplicity is key. There are a lot of good IT solutions, companies and people out there, but it can be hard to work out the good from the not-so-good due to typical IT jargon. From my experience, most people looking for help with their IT aren’t IT people themselves. I can cut through the technical jargon for you to minimise the frustrations you would typically face when dealing with the burden of IT.

It’s also important to note that we are completely unbiased when it comes to manufacturers and software providers. We cast a considered but wide net to ensure we find the most appropriate, and often cost saving, solutions for your business.

Why the name?

Origin: Stöd (Swedish)

Translation: Support

Sweden is known for its simple, clever, and beautiful design and architecture, and I believe the desire to keep things simple, transparent, and flexible for our customers fits very nicely with that. I want Stodl to support businesses in making the right decisions for their IT, and that’s where the name Stodl came from. Support translates to Stöd, and I added the ‘L’ for a little extra something.
